‘Women working for themselves are at a higher risk of mental ill health due to isolation, the gender pay gap & the burden of free care & domestic work.  For there to be more successful women-led businesses we need to ensure that women have the skills and support to protect their own mental health & identify risk factors.’ – Bev Costoya

Join us for our mental health first aid session with personal development and wellbeing experts Janine Green and Bev Costoya.

For four years technology startup resurgo.co analyzed how sexist barriers and isolation affected self-employed women. They found that one in five self-employed women had considered suicide and one quarter said their mental health was bad. While historical research has highlighted that self-employed people are at a higher risk of poor mental health, this skyrocketed when looking at the difference between women and men. This session will cover what mental health is and why women working for themselves are more at risk of mental ill health. Bev and Janine will discuss ways in which each of us can protect our mental health as well as offer solutions to help if you are ever struggling.

We will share some tools to help manage your mental health, as well as creating a safe space for you to talk about your experiences.

You will leave with:

  • Practical tools to help you navigate your mental health
  • An understanding of where to turn for support
  • The ability to recognise risk factors to your mental health as well as how to identify protective measures you can put in place

If you want to be able to identify ways you can support your mental health and spot risk factors and protect against them, then this event is for you.
