On Friday 8th March in celebration of International Women’s Day 2019, we hosted an incredible panel of all-female founders at Huckletree Shoreditch in partnership with Silicon Drinkabout. Entitled From Idea to Creation: Kickass Women Share Their Experiences of Founding Startups, we discussed how you can take an idea and turn it into a profitable and sustainable business.
Meet The Panellists
Davinia Tomlinson, Co-Founder & CEO at Rainchq
Davinia shared her experience of bootstrapping Rainchq whilst bringing up children, and the challenge of losing a co-founder early on. Davinia always knew she wanted to start a business and to have a family and wouldn’t compromise on either – everything else, though, has had to take a back seat.
Roberta Lucca, Co-Founder and Chief Brand Officer at BAFTA-winning Bossa Studios. Forbes Top 50 Women in Tech 2018.
Roberta told us her approach to various fundraising rounds at Bossa Studios and some research to help overcome gender bias during investment rounds. She shared how she structures her days, the challenges she has experienced in building a growing team of 75 and how to stay sane as an entrepreneur.
Fabienne O’Neill, Co-founder of Cuckooz Nest
Fabienne shared with us the decision to go into business with her best friend, knowing it would change their relationship forever. Running two businesses concurrently has been a challenge, and requires a huge amount of discipline. Fabienne shared her experience of angel investment and crowd-funding, having just launched a campaign on Seedrs for Cuckooz Nest.
