This year the theme of International Women’s Day is #ChooseToChallenge. So in the lead up to IWD 2021 and our week long series of events, we decided to ask the women we’re collaborating with how they choose to challenge. Here’s what they said…
Monday 8th | Trailblazing women panel | Innovating for good
Deepali Nangia, Co-founder of Alma Angels & Angel Investor – “I choose to challenge why a male investor doesn’t feel equipped enough to invest in a femtech company when I as a female investor can educate myself on all things in more traditionally male dominated sectors. I clearly didn’t grow up with Bitcoin, crypto, cyber security or even a dating app for that matter.❤”
Erika Brodknock, Founder of Kami and Karisma Kidz – “I choose to challenge the lack of diversity in the investment space particularly for black women who receive 0.02% of investment capitol.”
Lucy Hughes, Founder of Marina Tex – “I choose to challenge the linear model of consumption by creating circular solutions including a planet conscious alternative to plastic film.”
Tuesday 9th | Value Mindset | Sara Maxwell
Sara Maxwell, Wealth Coach and Finance expert – “I choose to challenge the value and worth we hold in our most precious and powerful asset – ourselves!”
Wednesday 10th | Ladies Finance Club | Lisa Conway Hughes
Lisa Conway Hughes, Finance expert and Co-founder of Ladies Finance Club – “I choose to challenge the gender investment and pensions gap. Women have on average a 1/5th of the pension of men!”
Thursday 11th | Holistic Hustle | Julie Fedele & Mandy Nyarko
Julie Fedele, Business Consultant and Founder of Two Feet In – “I choose to challenge the traditional paradigm of materialistic success. I believe in a world where we all live each day in alignment with what brings us joy, deeply connected to ourselves, our family and community.”
Mandy Nyarko, Co-founder of The Start Up Discovery School – “I choose to challenge the lack of diversity in founders creating the future products and services that we use. Only 1 in 4 startups have a female founder. This needs to change.”
Friday 11th | Your period & Productivity | Abi Adams
Abi Adams, Women’s Health expert – “I choose to challenge the archaic approach and mindset towards women’s health and success, knowing that the research we have been given in the past was all researched on men!”
